Mojang Announces ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ Star Rob McElhenney To Direct ‘Minecraft’ Movie

By July 21, 2015

In one of the shortest (and ballsiest) announcements I’ve ever come across, Mojang COO Vu Bui sent down the official decree: they’ve named a director.

Despite the fact McElhenney has yet to direct a feature film (back in 2014, Legendary picked up Figment — which will he’ll write/direct), both Warner Bros and Mojang seem confident in their choice. Admittedly, I find playing Minecraft — where players can build things with pixelated cubes and given options to continue building to their heart’s content or decide to protect it from destructive things that only come out at night — not my cup of tea, but I do enjoy watching someone who really knows what they’re doing play because the worlds become vast and beautiful in their own blocky way.

Not to mention the PLETHORA of hilarious Minecraft animation videos floating around out there!

I wonder if Charlie Day has already called the role of “Creeper,” haha.

Looks legit, right?

Okay, I know there’s a lot of MC AND “Sunny” fans out there so I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
