While more and more positive views towards the Star Wars prequels seem to be surfacing on a daily basis now, the general consensus towards the three films remains overwhelmingly negative, and the discussions regarding whether or not to show your kids the second completed Star Wars trilogy continues to remain a prevalent one amongst the fan community.  Though, it looks like one of the Prequels’ key cast members also hasn’t shown her kids the films yet.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Natalie Portman was asked if her five-year-old son had seen the films yet, which the actress replied by saying he hasn’t, though it might not be for the reason you might think.

Check out the clip below:

For those of you who don’t want to watch it as well:

He has not, he knows about it of course. It’s kind of a shame. You know, when I made it, I was like, ‘This is going to be the coolest thing. One day when I have kids, I can show them.’ And boys, of course, are obsessed with it and know all about it before they’ve seen it. Then I realized, I die in the movies. I feel like it’s kind of a scary thing to show your kid.

That’s a fair point, considering seeing your mom’s onscreen husband eventually help kill her might be a bit too traumatic for most kids to handle. However, it’s interesting to wonder if Portman knew all along that Padme was going to die in Revenge of the Sith, and just didn’t think of this at the time, or if it was a surprise to her when she went to make the third installment.

At the very least though, not only is her son being spared for a few more years from having to see his mom die in a Star Wars movie, but he’s also being spared some very difficult life lessons about sand as well. He’s luckier than the rest of us.
