Nathan Fillion’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Cameo Confirmed

By June 23, 2014

There was a bit of a frenzy this weekend when a writer at Latino Review speculated that Nathan Fillion may show up as Nova in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. He wasn’t reporting facts, or anything that he heard from sources – it was pure speculation, and he labeled it as such. Still, the internet had a little meltdown and you may have seen dozens of “Nathan Fillion as Nova in Guardians” headlines. Well, it turns out that the speculation has been debunked, because James Gunn took to Twitter to clear the air:

That’s a little disappointing, but it was a decent guess, especially since Fillion seemed to heavily imply at a fan convention two months ago that he was going to make an appearance in the film. But hold on, Fillion fans – just because he’s not playing Nova doesn’t mean he won’t be in the movie at all. In fact, Gunn went on to confirm that Fillion actually does have a small role in the film:

The two of them have worked together on Slither and Super, and now you can add Guardians of the Galaxy to the pair’s list of collaborations. Rejoice! And for fans of Nathan Fillion who also dig “Game of Thrones,” make sure you listen to this episode of the GeekNation “Game of Thrones” recap and review podcast, in which Fillion was a guest to talk about the ninth episode of season four, “The Watchers on the Wall.”

And finally, check out Empire’s two new covers featuring the cast of Guardians and perhaps the best look at Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser character we’ve seen yet:
