We have a new cast member for the upcoming Netflix superhero series “Daredevil.” According to Marvel, the role of Franklin ‘Foggy’ Nelson will be played by Elden Henson. Does his name sound familiar to you? It might be because you’ve been seeing it in connection to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 where he will play the role of Pollux. He also played Billy Z in The Lords of Dogtown and Lenny in The Butterfly Effect. (Editor’s Note: He was also Fulton Reed in The Mighty Ducks films!)

“Daredevil” is, of course, based on the Marvel superhero whose alter-ego is a blind attorney. (We’re all going to try to forget the 2003 film starring Ben Affleck.) Foggy is Matt Murdock’s (Daredevil) best friend and fellow attorney, who competes with him for the attention of law firm secretary Karen Page.

“Elden plays one of the most important characters in the world of Marvel’s Daredevil, and we’re thrilled to see Foggy Nelson brought to life by such an incredibly talented actor,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. “He perfectly captures the heart and soul of this series, bringing an added resonance to Matt Murdock’s fight against the injustice in their great city.”

Elden Henson

Netflix picked up “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” as brand new TV shows, as well as the miniseries “The Defenders” in a deal with Marvel. “Daredevil” will have 13 episodes and premiere in 2015. “Spartacus” creator Steven S. DeKnight took over showrunner duties from Drew Goddard after Goddard left to do Sinister Six. Charlie Cox will play the lead role of Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil. Other cast members include Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin and Rosario Dawson in an unknown role.

How are you guys feeling about the casting? Are you excited for the new show? Can you bleach the film out of your brain enough to give this a shot? Either way, this is a great time to be a superhero fan!
