‘New Mutants’ Director Teases The Film’s Possible Lineup

Following several months of absolute silence surrounding the project, news and rumors for Fox’s New Mutants, from Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone, have been slowly ramping up over the past few weeks, with the director providing updates on the film’s script and possible cast members being rumored to be signing on for the project as well.

Now, after reports seemed to possibly reveal three members of the New Mutants team, Boone has revealed several images on his Instagram page that could give us a better idea of what the film’s mutant lineup may look like.

The images include several of the original New Mutants members as well, which it’s seeming more and more like the film could be sticking with, as well as a few more wildcards. Check out the posts below:

Okay, so either Boone just really wanted to go on a social media spree of sharing his favorite New Mutants artwork, or these characters will make up the film’s titular team, we’re assuming. That means that the team would include Wolfsbane and Magik (who Maisie Williams and The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy have been rumored to be in talks for, respectively), Warlock, Sunspot, Cannonball, and Mirage.

Both Magik and Warlock could make interesting additions to the lineup, with the former being the sister of Colossus in the comics, which could act as a nice tie-in to the core X-Men and Deadpool franchises, and Warlock after being involved in some of the more tumultuous New Mutants stories in the comics as well. With a YA vibe and exciting lineup of mutants though, the film is shaping up to be one of Fox’s more unique superhero outings of recent memory, which could help continue to diversify their cinematic universe following the crazy good introduction of Deadpool earlier this year.

New Mutants does not currently have a release date.
