New ‘Ready Player One’ Set Photos Are Filled With All Kinds of Pop Culture References

By August 25, 2016

One of the most endearing aspects of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One was its blend of non-stop pop culture references into its original, and enthralling sci-fi story. When Steven Spielberg came out at one point and said though that the movie wouldn’t have quite as many references to his films and other work from the 80s, some fans were worried about how true to that aspect of the novel the film was going to be.

If the newest set photos from the movie are any indication though, it doesn’t look like that’ll be the case at all, because these things are like a pop culture fanatic’s dream come true.

Twitter user Michelle Green posted the following photos from the film’s Birmingham, England production, giving an idea of what kind of background designs and set details we can look forward to seeing in the adaptation:

So with these set photos, I guess w e can say with some utmost certainty here that Ready Player One won’t be short on its supply of Spielberg references after all, with the Jaws and other Amblin nods alone, making this without a doubt, one of our most anticipated blockbuster films of the next few years.

Ready Player One is set to hit theatres on March 30th, 2018.

    Excellent book.
Armada was a good book as well but too unrealistic.

    • I haven’t read Armada yet, but I agree, I love Ready Player One. Can’t wait for the adaptation.
