Don’t worry, kids. We’re in the home stretch. Captain America: Civil War is less than 2 weeks away (read our glowing review here), and from the looks of it Marvel has yet another incredible blockbuster on its hands. The trailers (like this one) have set the internet ablaze, and the hype surrounding this film could rival that of the first Avengers movie. Civil War kicks off Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so there’s a lot riding on this one. Fortunately, it sounds as thought it’s going to deliver.
While we may not need to see anymore trailers (I mean I certainly don’t, they had me at “Civil freaking War”), a studio’s marketing job is never done. So what we have here is not a new trailer, but a faux-news report examining the impact the Avengers have had on the world so far. Check it out.
Hey look, it’s that reporter from Iron Man. I remember her.
Basically this video is getting the ball rolling on what will become the central issue of Civil War: should heroes continue without any government oversight? What makes this debate (and the movie itself, hopefully) so interesting is how you really can see both sides of the argument. That was also one of the greatest things about the original comic book event upon which the film is based. Both Team Cap and Team Iron Man have valid points, and lucky for us their method of problem resolution involves lots of punching and zapping and whatnot. The issue may divide heroes and fans alike, but at least we can all agree this movie looks REALLY good.
Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6th.
