Marvel Studios typically has the most buzzed-about presentation at San Diego Comic-Con each year, and while there’s some debate over whether or not Warner Bros. managed to steal the show in 2016, there’s no denying that Marvel’s annual Hall H panel was incredibly entertaining. Fans were treated to new footage from Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but unfortunately, Thor: Ragnarok wasn’t far enough into production for the studio to prepare a trailer.

But that doesn’t mean the third installment of the Thor franchise was absent – quite the contrary, in fact. Director Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) sent along a hilarious three-minute short that answered one of fandom’s biggest questions: just where the hell was the God of Thunder during the events of Captain America: Civil War? Find out in the clip below.

The idea of Thor moving into a small apartment with an office worker and repeatedly showing up to pester him at work is insanely funny, and this clip perfectly captures the sense of humor that permeates Waititi’s other films. I also love the fact that the big guy has built a makeshift bed for his trusty weapon, Mjolnir, and that he’s been passing the time putting together an elaborate flow chart to trace the connection between Thanos and the Infinity Stones, like some kind of conspiracy theorist. And how great is that cameo from Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), as he ponders the reason he’s always waking up in cutoffs?

With Waititi behind the camera, it’s a pretty safe bet that Thor: Ragnarok will offer some of the funniest material we’ve seen yet in a Marvel film, and I’m hoping this footage only scratches the surface of what we can expect from the finished product. It’s just a shame we have to wait so long to find out, as Thor: Ragnarok won’t be coming our way until November 3, 2017.
