New ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer May Bring Back THIS Beloved Character

Warning: This post may contain spoilers for X-Men: Apocalypse

Up until this point, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, and the rest of the creative team behind this year’s X-Men: Apocalypse have remained fairly adamant that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will not being appearing in the new film. Jackman himself has even gone on record saying as much, which is odd considering the character has appeared in every single one of Fox’s X-Men films in at least some capacity.

Turns out, things might not be as clear cut and straightforward as we had thought, at least according to a new rumor from Heroic Hollywood, that is.

The report states that Fox is going to reveal Jackman’s role in the film in the upcoming, latest 3D trailer for the film set to premiere at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, though the report fails to mention whether or not Wolverine will have a cameo role in the film, or something a little bit more substantial.

It’s interesting considering how everyone, including the fans, had seemingly accepted the character’s absence from the film at this point, and to possibly reveal his role or cameo at CinemaCon of all places, just seems slightly strange. Now, it is just a rumor for the time being though, so make sure to take all of this with a very large grain of salt.

Jackman is set to say goodbye to the character in Wolverine 3 next year though, making his final onscreen appearance as the character who he first brought to life on the big screen back in the Singer-directed 2001 X-Men film.

In a lot of ways, Jackman has been the main throughline throughout the entire, convoluted X-Men universe too, so it’s not necessarily surprising that Fox would want to pay homage to the character in some way in Apocalypse, which is setting itself up to be the largest film in the franchise so far. It’s just surprising that they might choose to reveal his involvement in the fashion that this rumor states.

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theatres on May 27th.
