While it may not be possible to boldly go where no one has gone before without the invention of a warp drive, or for that matter space travel that doesn’t require elaborate suits and training, “Star Trek” fans can now party like a Klingon.
THR reports that CBS Consumer Products has teamed with the Federation of Beer to have the Tin Man Brewing Company of Evansville, Indiana to brew Warnog, an officially licensed beer inspired by the gruff Klingons from the iconic sci-fi series (and its spin-offs) and long-running film franchise.
The beer will debut at Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas on March 25th (happening at the same time as CinemaCon), and then gets shipped out around the United States and Canada later this year. For any beer aficionados more curious about the beer itself, regardless of its science fiction affiliations, here’s the official description:
“This singular beer incorporates rye malt into a modern Dunkelweizen grain bill, creating a flavor profile that is both familiar and unique. Warnog’s aroma is predominantly mild banana and clove produced by the German wheat yeast, supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt. The flavor draws heavily from the blending of the rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor. The inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making this Dunkelweizen hearty enough to be called a Klingon Warnog.”
Hopefully the beer tastes better than the title implies, since “Warnog” sounds like some kind of holiday drink made from the remains of a warthog. But if it’s made for real Klingons, we reckon it won’t have to taste all that delicious for them to drink it in celebrating of their latest victory.
Either way, you can be sure plenty of “Star Trek” fans will pick this up just because of the branding. Plus, cosplayers will now have something to tailgate with at sci-fi conventions without looking too weird by being dressed as a mighty Klingon but holding a Bud Light with Lime.
