Rachel, Clare and Brendan discuss the Season 5 Episode 7 “The Gift.”

  • David Johnson

A New Hat in the ring for ruling the 7th Kingdom High Sparrow, now it would be a Boring Ass Fascist Utopia! But it does put a whole new player but the sparrows would turn the Iron Throne into plows! He also has something over the 2 Kings Landings Queens, explain there is a way out to Cersi, but I believe it would involve Cult Brainwashing!

  • David Johnson

I’m thinking there holding Arya as a End of Season Cliff Hanger. Having Her leave the House of Black & White as someone else a true No Face Person!

    • Clare Kramer

      Interesting theory!

    • Liz K Clark

It’s starting to look like you are correct… more episodes w/out her, and last week was a bit unsatisfying. Oh well, lots of other great moments in The Gift so I can’t really complain too much. David, do you think if she does exit House of B/W as a faceless person, she will be played by a different actress for a bit? Oh God, that’s really going to screw me up! JK of course. But it’s an interesting theory…. I agree thought that she can’t be left there much longer – we need to see her reanimated and back with needle – taking some action.

      • David Johnson

Just a theory I’ve had in My head since She started Her training. It would be a excellent Season Ending just to see Her Change like Jaqen did in Season 3 in front of Her!

  • Clare Kramer

Hope you enjoy the episode! Even thought this podcast ran a bit longer, I still could have talked for another half hour or so…. leave your thoughts and comments on The Gift and the podcast below. We read them! Enjoy!

    • David Johnson

      Just started!!!

    • Dale Baines

Folks like you who provide podcasts for free with good content should never need to apologize for running long on the length.

      • Clare Kramer

        Ahhhh – thanks!

      • David Johnson

@Geeknation has an Amazing lineup, plus there are about 5 to 10 really interesting shows on the Cusp!!! I’m just hioping this Trio would carry on with True Detective but I think Clare has a Movie Project starting right around GoT’s last show!!!

        • Liz K Clark

Excellent idea! I said this before but I love Clare and Rachel too, but Brenden is great to have from the writers perspective. He’s right about compression of time, and has good analysis of when a scene doesn’t work, why is doesn’t work. Anyone know if he’s directed as well? I too hope the trio can stay together for a True Detective carry on – even if they vary week to week a bit.

    • Tosha Cook Ncics

I’m not going to lie, I was hoping you would not do one this week and we would get a 2 hour one next week. Oh well a girl can dream 🙂 I agree with Dale Baines, this is the best podcast I have listened to since GoT started and no matter who the guess person you have with you each week you ALL touch on just about every scene where other podcasts don’t so thats why I was sad when True Blood was done and I’m going to be sad when GoT is finally done. I look forward to #GeekNation every Monday. PS…I’m glad you mention #Buffy #TheGift especially since its been 12 years since the show went off the air but lives on in my DVD Collection Miss Glorifikis aka @clarekramer:disqus Have a Great Week yall!!!

    • David Johnson

Think You could go to 2 hours don’t think any of Us would complain!!!

  • David Johnson

I’m now thinking that Stannis is the George Patton of the 7 Kingdoms, just a little paranoid for little Shireen!!

  • David Johnson

Loved watching Jorah being sold into slavery considering He was exiled because He sold people into slavery!!!

  • David Johnson

Will Bronn & Tyene become a Bad Ass Couple. Love how Tyene got him a bit excited to get the poison working faster but still offered up the antidote for a simple compliment!!

    • David Johnson

Tyene was also the one who cut Him with the lance!

  • David Johnson

Gilly’s Father was a Bastard Son of a Man of the Nights Watch! But a lot of royalty gets sent to the wall so Little Sam could have Royal Blood!!!

  • David Johnson

The Man of the Night Watch use to all go down to the local Brothel. But the Wildings took it out last season, so the boys go no where to go for release!

  • David Johnson

I don’t believe Cersi could act sincere about repenting for Her sins!!! But don’t think they take Her out it will just be another of the 2 Episodes of Cliff Hangers. So there’s probably only 1 more none cliff hanging episode!!!

  • Dale Baines

I still think Sansa is progressing the way she should be progressing…slowly but surely. She is not capable of physically defending herself so her fighting back against Ramsay physically was never even an option I saw for her. Her best game plan right now is to try to run away or survive until help comes. She is not an Arya or Brienne. She is not a Dany nor even a Cersei. This is the best she can do and makes a lot of sense for her character. It would not make any sense for a character like her or even Theon to suddenly be able to turn the tables on Ramsay overnight. They do not have that kind of ability. During the conversation with Ramsay, when Sansa started poking at him regarding his bastard status, I was grinning ear to ear. THAT’S how Sansa has grown. The Sansa of old would never have the wherewithal to do that. She will never be like an Oleanna or Margaery, because frankly, I don’t think she has that level of intelligence, but she will become a good enough version to survive all that has and may still come her way.

  • Dale Baines

Guys, I’ve rewatched the Jorah/Tyrion/Dany scene like 10 times since last night because next to the Dany sacking the first slave city scene, it is my favorite scene of the entire series so far, so I can tell you with some authority that Dany did react to Jorah’s reappearance. Her eyes kind of died and then her voice shook just a bit as she told the guards to remove him from her sight. Emilia Clarke played it PERFECTLY. Rachel’s right, a lot of coincidences had to happen to get to this point which were stretching the boundaries of belief a bit, but alllll of it was worth it since in the end we got such a fucking fantastic moment.

    • David Johnson

With only a 10 Episode Season they have to play a little fast & loose with the Story Thread.

      • Liz K Clark

I agree. They really need to expand the season!

    • Liz K Clark

Totally agree. I definitely saw the reaction of disbelief/sorrow and finally regret, anger and resolve in the moment Dany recognized Jorah. It was awesome and Emilia did play it perfectly. I love the character Dany but Emilia did take a while to grow on me – but now I love her. I am super excited to see where the Tyrion/Dany story line goes.

  • Christina Legree Morrison

    Love the Podcast. Great show

  • Christina Legree Morrison

I had a random thought. Dani, Tyrion, and Jon- all of their mothers died at while giving birth. I think they are truly connected to each other. IJS

    • David Johnson

Think Jon’s Mother Dying during Childbirth is still just a theory, a Good Theory!
