It’s that time of year again! Time for another entry in Adam and Joe’s popular “Fan Commentary Series” where they perform a full movie commentary track to a film that they had absolutely nothing to do with making. After the success of last year’s HALLOWEEN III commentary and the boys launching a worldwide appreciation society for Tom Atkins’ mustache… it was only appropriate to do the next film in the popular slasher franchise this October and dive deep into Dwight Little’s fan-beloved HALLOWEEN IV: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS (1988). But what fun would a “return” be without a returning guest as well? She was the very first Movie Crypt guest, she’s the “Scream Queen of Halloween”, and she also happens to have starred in the film itself… actress Danielle Harris returns to The Movie Crypt to help the boys get (at least some of) their facts straight during their commentary track. Listen as the group geeks out over their love of this terrific film, dishes out behind the scenes facts that you may or may not have ever been aware of, and even get a bit… personal… before the commentary even begins rolling. Who did Danielle lose her virginity to? What’s up with her new GeekNation talk show “Girl On Girl?” Is she really launching a new business? Will Adam ever date again? What band did Joe just direct a music video for? Will Arwen get a treat? All of your pressing questions will be answered in these fun, candid, and informative 2 hours. So grab your copy of HALLOWEEN IV, turn down the lights, put on your favorite clown costume, and enjoy watching Michael Myers bring fear back to Haddonfield with the star of the film, two other guys, and a Yorkie keeping your ears company. “Ten years ago he changed the face of Halloween. Tonight… he’s back.”

  • RolandDeschain1 .

I’m pretty sure I saw HALLOWEEN 4 first as well. That thing seemed to be ubiquitous on VHS where the first two were a bit harder to find.

And I was 11 when I saw it so, yes, my crush on Danielle was definitely age-appropriate. 😀

I really appreciated her bluntly honest statement about her experience working with woman directors. It’s great how someone who has been in the business for 30 years is giving an actual OPINION and not just toeing the party line of “Men are awful! WAAAAAHHH!!”, which is the thing to do today if you want to get your butt kissed by vile, man-hating clickbait sites like Salon, Jezebel and The Mary-Sue.

  • Yes, Thank you for posting this. I can’t wait to listen to this and watch the movie then. Love me some Halloween 4.
So again thanks for all the hard effort that you put into those on a weekly basis.

It ended with Halloween II. MM had his eyes shot out. I could have accepted Loomis surviving, but MM surviving being badly burned AND having his eyes shot out…… Hmmm?

Ask and you shall receive! What a weird coincidence that right after I suggest bringing Danielle back for a commentary, she appears! Loved hearing her talk candidly about subjects I’m really interested in. If you’re as big a fan of Danielle as I am, you know just what she’s talking about in reference to getting the same questions over and over (‘What was it like working with Rob Zombie?’ ‘Were you scared on set of Halloween?’ ‘Blah Blah Blah’), so it’s nice to hear more personal opinions and tidbits! (Jamie Lloyd and Max Dennison? I ship it! I’ll never look at Hocus Pocus the same way again… Haha!) That’s why I enjoy The Movie Crypt, Scary Sleepover and Horrified. It’s not the same old shit the filmmakers are asked at every convention and every interview. It’s real and raw and opinionated! That’s also why I can’t wait for Girl On Girl!
I always remember thinking H4 was the scariest of the franchise when I was little and first started watching the AMC Fear Fest marathons. The ending shot especially terrified me and proves what a versatile actress Dani is: she goes from being the cutest, most sympathetic character to giving me nightmares, all in one film!
Halloween 4 is aging so well and has stood the test of time more so than any of the sequels, even a little more than Halloween II, honestly. Lovely to hear from Danielle again! This was an awesome Halloween treat! Even though I’m sure it was planned and merely a coincidence that she returned right after I requested it, I’m still very thankful! 🙂

I can’t imagine having to work 14 hour days when I was 11. Hats off to Danielle for not only doing it, but coming out normal afterwards.
