Looks like Art3mis has logged in to ‘Oasis.’

The Hollywood Reporter has just shared the news that Me and Earl and the Dying Girl actress and rumored finalist for an unspecified role in Star Wars Episode VIII, Olivia Cooke, has bagged the female role of Sam aka Art3mis in the Steven Spielberg adaptation of Ready Player One; the best-selling sci-fi novel by Ernie Cline. For everyone out there reading up on this report unfamiliar with the novel, finish reading this, log out of your computer and pick up the book. You’re welcome.

Ready Player One is set in a virtual world called Oasis in which a teenager finds himself competing in a treasure hunt against ruthless foes after the game’s founder dies and offers his fortune as the grand prize.

In a previous report from the Wrap a shortlist of actresses revealed Olivia Cooke along with Elle Fanning and Lola Kirke. That same day, Olivia Cooke was also pegged to be up for Star Wars Episode VIII, proving that even though Earl didn’t connect with theatre goers, the same cannot be said about Cook as she has become the hottest actress in town.

In the same report from THR it was revealed that Spielberg has been reading actors from Los Angeles and New York in the hopes of finding his two main leads, Atr3mis of course and the male part of Wade Watts. Still no word on Wade as of yet.

I imagine we won’t have to wait long for news on Wade as Warner Bros and Village Roadshow, the studios behind the film, are actively crewing up with Spielberg widening his search in and around Los Angeles and New York. With the popularity of this book hitting all time highs because of Spielberg’s involvement, and with Cook now joining the film, this has quickly become one of my most anticipated movies.

Ready Player One is set to be released on December 17th, 2017.
