2015 will obviously be remembered as the year we returned to a galaxy far, far away. 2016, however, will belong to that other classic sci-fi adventure series, Star Trek. Next July will see the release of the third installment in the rebooted film series, Star Trek Beyond. But the big milestone will come on September 8, 2016, which will mark the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the original Star Trek television series on CBS. Who knew a low-rated sci-fi show that only last 3 seasons would inspire 13 feature films, 4 television series (with another on its way), an animated series, and countless novels and comics? Star Trek is truly one of the most enduring franchises in history, and it’s clear there’s plenty left in the ol’ warp engine.
To celebrate Star Trek‘s 50th birthday, the folks over at the Roddenberry Facebook Page will be revealing never before seen pictures from its various incarnations. According to Entertainment Weekly, the page will reveal a new picture every day leading up to the 50th anniversary. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the gems they’ll be sharing with fans for the first time:
Oh, this is going to be a fun year.
Be sure to ‘like’ the Roddenberry Facebook page so you don’t miss out on these amazing never before seen photos! Happy birthday, Star Trek!
