Earlier this morning, we got our first look at Henry Cavill suited up as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, along with some quotes from Snyder about the movie and why he chose to keep that stupid “v” in there instead of going with the normal “vs.” But that’s not all of the Batman v Superman news we’re getting today: Latino Review‘s sources say that there will be four additional villains in the movie, and fans of the DC universe will likely recognize their names: Victor Zsasz, Morgan Edge, David Cain, and Amanda Waller.
Zsasz is a serial killer that carves a tally mark into his body each time he murders someone, and this dude is completely covered with scars, so that tells you just how bloodthirsty he is. He’s a Batman villain, and actually had a small appearance in Batman Begins.
In the comics, Morgan Edge is a wealthy businessman who owns the Galaxy Broadcasting System, which includes a news station – WGBS News – that could be seen in Man of Steel. Latino Review says Edge will be a slimeball public relations exec for LexCorp in this movie, and they speculate that Edge could be the mystery role that actor Scoot McNairy was hired to play. Sounds like a good fit to me.
David Cain is one of the world’s deadliest assassins, who trained Bruce Wayne in the comics in killing techniques that Wayne refuses to use. Later in the comics, he’s hired by Lex Luthor to frame Bruce Wayne for murder, a plotline that could easily be worked into Batman v Superman.
And finally, the comic book version of Amanda Waller is in charge of the Suicide Squad, a group of former supervillains who work black ops missions for the government in exchange for a clean record. In the movie, she’ll play a stern senator who doesn’t trust Superman in the slightest and comes up with a “countermeasure” that sounds like it could cause our hero some serious problems.
So let’s do a little roll call, shall we? So far in this film, we know we’ll see Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Perry White, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, Ma Kent, Alfred, Luthor’s bodyguard Mercy Graves, Victor Zsasz, Morgan Edge, David Cain, Amanda Waller, and at least two other characters played by Holly Hunter and Callan Mulvey. Little crowded, eh? What is this, an X-Men movie?
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on May 6th, 2016.
