Shabbat Shalom Mother Effers! The Hebrew Hammer Is Back!

Sometimes news comes in that just gets me way too giddy than should be allowed by law.  This is one of those times. Why, you ask? Because, The Hebrew Hammer is fucking back! I think I can speak for all of the Jews (because I say so) that we have missed the presence of a Jewish hero in pop culture over the past decade. Not that there are many (or any) badass Jewish crime fighters out there to begin with, but I digress.

As a member of the tribe, and a fan of the original Hebrew Hammer film, I am rather happy to learn I’m not the only one who wishes to see Adam Goldberg don the hat and overcoat again. Pretty much the only “Jewsploitation” film ever made, “The Hebrew Hammer” follows the story of Mordechai Jefferson Carver as he hunts down Santa’s son Damian Claus (Andy Dick) to rescue Hanukkah and Kwanza from his evil clutches.

Okay, so long story short here.  Goldberg and director Jonathan Kesselman have reunited for the sequel. And from what I’ve gathered, this will be a time travel story. Wait, time travel!? Yes, that’s right. In “The Hebrew Hammer Vs. Hitler”, Mordechai attempts to thwart a time-traveling Adolf Hitler from rewriting Jewish history by chasing him in a “Time Sukkah” across time with his good buddy Mohammed Ali Paula Abdul Rahim (Mario Van Peebles). Also returning for the sequel is Esther Bloomenbergensteinenthal (Judy Greer). Kesselman even has hopes that there will be a Last Supper Scene (Goldberg will also be playing Jesus!) featuring some Jewtastic people like Mel Brooks and Larry David.

Described as a combination of “Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and “History Of The World Part 1”, the amazingly titled “The Hebrew Hammer Vs. Hitler” is slated to begin production in New York this Spring.

We’ll keep you posted as new details arise. But until then…

Shabbat Shalom, Motherfuckers!
