Sharlto Copley Will Star in First-Person POV Action Film ‘Hardcore’

I really like character actor Sharlto Copley’s work. The South African actor got his big break with Neill Blomkamp’s District 9, and has since appeared in The A-Team, the space indie Europa Report, and he has appearances in Elysium and Oldboy coming up soon. Now The Wrap is reporting that he’ll get a chance to take on another leading man role in Hardcore, an action film that will be shot entirely from the first-person point of view.

Written and directed by Russian filmmaker Ilya Naishuller and produced by Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov, Hardcore‘s details are being kept mostly under wraps, but we know that it will involve sci-fi elements and that Copley will be killing a lot of bad dudes to save a damsel in distress. The director has worked with this first-person style before in a popular video called “Bad Motherf*cker” that has racked up over 23 million views on YouTube and Vimeo, but doing an ENTIRE movie like this should be quite a challenge. (Even Humphrey Bogart’s 1947 noir Dark Passage didn’t do it for the whole movie.)

Take a look at the video for “Bad Motherf*cker” below, and let us know if you’re psyched to see Copley in a full-on, balls-to-the-wall POV action flick like this:
