First Trailer For Sisters

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have become two of the most enigmatic voices in the comedy world over the past decade. Aside from their individual accomplishments, the two have formed a successful comedy duo multiple times in the past, and fans can look forward to a combined effort from the two again later this year with the release of their new film, Sisters, from Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore.

The film also stars Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), John Cena (Trainwreck), John Leguizamo (Chef), Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad), and more. It follows the story of two sisters who reunite to throw one last party at their childhood home before their parents sell it.

The first official trailer for the film has been released online (via Universal Pictures). Check it out below:

The film’s official synopsis:

“Tina Fey and Amy Poehler reunite for Sisters, a new film from Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore about two disconnected sisters summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high-school-style party for their classmates, which turns into the cathartic rager that a bunch of ground-down adults really need.”

The trailer definitely provided hints at Poehler and Fey’s signature styles of comedy, but it seemed to be surprisingly toned down in terms of gags and its level of ridiculousness. It was nice to see comedy veterans like Barinholtz and Rudolph pop up at points throughout though, and the trailer is most likely holding back and focusing mostly on the film’s story — therefore saving some of the more outrageous moments for the actual film.

Sisters is set to hit theatres later this year on December 18th.
