Paramount Pictures has been ramping up its marketing and promotional campaign for Star Trek Beyond over the past few weeks, with new character and plot details being released from some of the film’s cast and creative team, and the debut of the final theatrical trailer announced to be next month. Though at this point, you’d think J.J. Abrams was still at the helm of the film, due to all of the immense amounts of secrecy surrounding the project.

Now, some new images from the film have been revealed (via Check Magazine) online, which feature new looks at the main crew’s new uniforms, as well as teasing some more of their unfortunate hijinks on the film’s mysterious alien planet.

Following the disappointing Star Trek: Into Darkness, the new film has been placed under a large amount of scrutiny from the Trek fandom over the past year or so, with many questioning the choice of Fast and Furious director Justin Lin at the helm, and many criticizing the film’s strange tone from the first teaser trailer.

Obviously, the images don’t reveal all that much new about the film, rather focusing on the characters and teasing their state of being in it, rather than shocking new reveals or looks at the planet itself or Idris Elba’s villainous Krall. As of right now, I maintain a hopeful optimism towards Beyond, hoping it will be able to put the franchise back on track like Simon Pegg, Lin, and co. have so carefully stressed over the past few months. I suspect we’ll have a much better idea of what to expect from it following the new trailer’s premiere on May 20th though.

Star Trek Beyond is set to hit theatres on July 22nd.
