‘Star Wars’ Trilogy Recut To ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Music in Fan Trailer

By June 23, 2014

It’s slow on the news front today, so I figured I might as well feature this cool fan mashup of Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy that’s been making the rounds today. After all, both Guardians and Star Wars were in the news this morning, and James Gunn’s take on Guardians is clearly influenced by George Lucas’s galaxy far, far away, so combining these two properties into one video makes a certain amount of sense. YouTube user The Unusual Suspect put this mashup together, which uses footage from the original Star Wars trilogy and music from the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer. Check it out:

Pretty cool, huh? I mean, it’s not a perfect match with the Guardians trailer – Star Wars humor doesn’t come across as much as it does in the looks we’ve seen at Marvel’s upcoming space opera – but it’s close enough, and an interesting effort to bring two massive Disney-owned franchises together.

While Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) would probably be easy to cut into a reversed mashup standing in for Han Solo, there’s no member of the Guardians cast who’s clean-cut enough to pull off a Luke Skywalker stand-in, so it’s probably for the best that The Unusual Suspect chose to make this video with Star Wars footage and not the other way around. And in case you haven’t seen it, be sure to check out the most recent trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy below:
