‘Suicide Squad’ Director Calls The Latest Reshoot Rumors “Silly”

By April 11, 2016

A few weeks ago, some rumors started running around online that DC’s Suicide Squad would be undergoing reshoots to give the film a lighter tone and insert more jokes to make it funnier, after the fan reception to the second, more humorous trailer was so well-received. Following the release of the Blitz trailer last night though, it looks like those rumors might not have been all that accurate after all, because aside from being an incredible trailer in general, it was filled with even more never-before-seen jokes and fun banter amongst the characters.

According to the film’s director, David Ayer as well, it looks like while the reshoots are happening, they’re not happening to make the film funnier or lighter, but are instead coming at Ayer’s request to give the film “#MoreAction,” as the filmmaker revealed on Twitter earlier today.

Check out the director’s tweet below:

Now it’s possible that this could just be to get fans’ off the film’s back about adding in more humor in the film, but at the same time, Ayer has always been a bit of a straight shooter when it comes to these things.

I don’t think that there’s any question reshoots are happening, and there will probably be some more jokes added in at the same time, but if it’s also to give the film more action and it’s because Ayer personally wants to add it in, then I don’t seen any problem there. I just hope the trailers don’t give away too many of the jokes and fun moments at this point.

Suicide Squad is set to hit theatres on August 5th.
