It’s going to be a long wait to get the second season of Netflix’s Sense8 – but no worries. Taking a page out of BBC’s Doctor Who book, the subscription streaming service will look to hold fans over with a two-hour Christmas special.
And if you want an idea of what the Christmas special will be about, Variety says you’ll have to keep guessing.
The journey continues as these eight singular hearts and minds weave in and out of each other’s lives finding deeper connections, leaning darker, more desperate secrets about one another, and struggling to identify with more than just oneself.
Umm, OK. Thanks, Netflix.
The Christmas special will be available Dec. 23, most likely at midnight Pacific Time (3 a.m. ET). But that wasn’t the only news Netflix was sharing.
The 10-episode second season will kick off May 5, nearly two years after the first season rocked the streaming service. The series was created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, the duo behind The Matrix films, as well as Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski.
It stars Aml Ameen (Kidulthood), Doona Bae (Jupiter Ascending), Jamie Clayton (Hung), Tina Desai (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Tuppence Middleton (The Imitation Game), Max Riemelt (Amnesia), Miguel Angel Silvestre (I’m So Excited) and Brian J. Smith (Stargate: Universe). These eight people who had no other prior connection to each other, suddenly become linked both mentally and emotionally, putting the overall story in motion.
Netflix renewed the show for a second season last August. No writer or director for the Christmas special was announced.
