Possible Plot And Villain Details for ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel

By | No Comments

While we’re still months away from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hitting theaters, rumors about Superman’s future solo projects have begun to rear their pretty little heads. A few weeks ago, we heard the rumor that George Miller was possibly going to direct the sequel to Man of Steel, which naturally got everyone all kinds of excited. We may not have a definite answer on that one yet, but according to yesterday’s report on Heroic Hollywood, we now have a few ideas as to what that film will look like.

Of course, as the report points out, things are still in the maybe-perhaps-who-knows stage. So while we’re putting a SPOILER ALERT on this, plenty could change between now and the film’s eventual debut. Take all of this with a grain of salt, folks. Although I must say, as far as rumors go this one is pretty damn exciting.

Just going to put this here in case you need one:

BvS Spoiler Alert

According to HH’s report, the main villain for Man of Steel 2 will be none other than Brainiac (which has been rumored for a while). Apparently Brainiac will be after the same Kryptonian codex that Superman and General Zod fought over in the original film. That’s pretty cool in and of itself, but wait! There’s more! Things are getting awesomer! You see, Brainiac isn’t going after Superman. Nope. He’s going after another Kryptonian survivor. That survivor’s name?

Kara Zor-El, aka SUPERGIRL!!!

In the prequel comic before the release of Man Of Steel, David Goyer scripted that Kara Zor-El was the most promising daughter of the House of El. The prequel comic told Kara’s story as she nears completion of her training. She intended to become a member of Krypton’s ‘Explorers Guild’; citizens tasked with searching the cosmos for suitable planets, and triggering terraforming projects to make them inhabitable to Kryptonians.

The idea has always been the sequel will introduce Supergirl and will focus on her as much as on Superman himself. In fact, this is what supposedly got George Miller’s attention in the first place. He is attracted to strong female protagonists as shown in Mad Max: Fury Road by its co-star Charlize Theron as Furiosa.

See? Told ya it was cool.

Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “Wow, that’s awesome! It can’t possibly get any better than that!” Well guess what? Yes it can. After all, Brainiac has never really been one to get his own hands dirty. Therefore, to aid in his pursuit of Supergirl, he creates a living weapon of his own. A living weapon called BIZARRO.

So, again, this is all speculation and rumor and whatnot. But if things pan out the way this report says they will, the Man of Steel sequel will be directed by George Miller and feature Superman and Supergirl teaming up to face off against Brainiac and Bizarro. I got giddy just from typing that. Apparently this all comes from the original pitch Zach Snyder and David Goyer made to Warner Bros. following Man of Steel‘s success. This film may still be a few years away, but I’m already excited for it. I LOVE this idea.

We’ll get our next Superman fix when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016.
