Fans across the world definitely rejoiced when news first broke that the beloved sci-fi series “The X-Files” would be returning to Fox for a special six-episode event series. While we had heard rumors of certain supporting characters coming back to their roles on the show, we hadn’t yet heard any official confirmation on some of them, until now.
Mitch Pileggi, the actor that played assistant FBI director Walter Skinner, will be returning to the role of one of Mulder and Scully’s most important allies when the episodes begin shooting later this year. Announcing his return on Twitter, Pieggi seemed enthused about the prospect of returning to a character that both he and a great many fans seem to enjoy.
Very happy to announce that Walter Skinner will once again be getting all grumpy and bitchy with his two wayward kids. Very happy.

So far, the only other confirmed stars to return are the two leads, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Although Duchovny said in an appearance on “Late Night With David Letterman” that both Pileggi and the “Cigarette Smoking Man,” actor William B. Davis, would be returning, he later backpedaled on that statement, later adding that he would “expect them” to come back. Whle Pileggi has turned out to come true, no word has yet been made public about any other actors returning to the characters they played on the series or in either of the two feature films.
The “X-Files” revival is expected to begin shooting this summer, but there’s not yet any official word on a release window. For more on this as it takes shape, keep it locked on GeekNation!
