A series of creative differences with Ryan Reynolds has led to Miller’s departure.
He was not going to let this one be another mistake.
It sounds like all of the original cast could be returning as well!
With Deadpool 2 already greenlit for a sequel, with all of the original creative film returning, one of the most talked about aspects of the sequel (which was confirmed in the film’s second end credits tag), is the casting and inclusion of Cable in the film. With even Rob Liefeld revealing who he’d like to see take on the role onscreen.
The cast and creative team behind the franchise haven’t been shy about expressing what they want Cable to bring to the sequel, and what his dynamic with Deadpool will be like onscreen either.
While recently speaking with IGN as well, director Tim Miller as well as screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick shared what they’re looking forward to exploring by including Cable in the sequel:
“There’s a lot about Cable’s history that I like because he’s so intertwined with the world of the X-Men. Why he was put together with Deadpool – other than that he was in a comic that wasn’t selling well and Deadpool was in a comic that wasn’t selling well so they put them together – it’s the same reason we had Colossus; he’s a straight man. And I think Deadpool needs a straight man. Cable is the ultimate, archetypal, silent, strong and cynical warrior, which Deadpool is not.”
“Strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn’t have. Deadpool’s kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what.”
Werick went on to add predictably that the actor needs to be “physically imposing” as well, and once again, the creative team behind the film continue to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of what makes Deadpool such an alluring and entertaining character, as well as why his interactions with the other characters in the X-Men and Marvel universes are so enthralling to read and watch.
No matter who they end up casting as Cable in the film, I have a feeling that the sequel will be everything that fans are hoping it will be, which is the kind of ballsy, faithful comic book adaptation that we very hardly see onscreen. Which is the reason that the film was so successful earlier this year, and on a separate note, is what has helped to make the MCU so successful as well. The films don’t need to be straight-from-the-page adaptations of comic book stories, but they need to understand their characters. That’s all that really matters in the end.
Deadpool will be released on blu ray and DVD on May 10th.

This would be… Perfect.
