Terrible Startup Says They Can Read Scripts At Light Speed & Tell Studios Which Ones To Make

By December 30, 2015

Skynet is here.

In the worst killing-creativity-in-the-name-of-the-dollar idea heard in years a startup company says they have a technology that will tell movie studios which scripts will make money and which won’t. In minutes.

According to Scriptbook Founder Nadira Azermai the technology no longer requires the Studio to even read the scripts: (No, seriously)

A film studio has thousands of scripts and they have a huge backlog. All the scripts need to be read and assessed and we can do that at a speed of light.

So through some sorcery this Scriptbook in which even the name is void of creativity or passion (hmm….I’ll name my Company ___book because that worked once) will scan through these scripts and a computer will decide whether they are hitting the right story AND emotional beats. Maybe someone should read these poor people a script about John Henry.

It will also tell Studios which scripts are profitable and which aren’t once ran against the other 2,000 scripts in their database. Which you know the Studios will follow because the evidence is Adam Sandler.

We went back to what makes a story great. How a story should be structured and the key elements, what kind of dialog, what kind of journey is the hero on. There are certain rules to stories even if you go back to Shakespeare and the three act play.

So basically this new tech filters out anything unique. Get ready for a life of formulaic, must-hit-that-emotional-checkpoint movies created solely to collect cash, world. Why look for something new and exciting? Why look for a game changer? Nobody wants read!!!!

Scriptbook has raised about 1.1 Million in funding this year from people who hate originality and puppies. They are already working with four Hollywood studios to test the product. The story comes from CNBC, the black rage comes from me. Is there anyone out there with a soul who actually likes this idea? Can you tell us why? Stay tuned for more updates on the end, GeekNation.

Mike Holtz is just a guy looking for any excuse to talk movies and needs to be able to give people a legitimate reason to spend what they spend on popcorn each month. The Dad to a superhero little girl with another on the way, Mike's also written for a few cool websites and talked for a few more. Also, Mike cries like a school girl every time he watches 'Rocky.'
  • Probably filters and searches for keywords. Just make sure to write ‘superhero’, ‘mutant’ or ‘explosions’ as much as possible. 🙂

Thank God for Small Production Companies & Indie Films. Even though who knows how many classics are made then just sit collecting dust every year.
