‘The Flash’ Set Photos May Reveal Season 3’s Villain

By July 13, 2016

I think it’d be safe to say that while he had his moments, Zoom in The Flash‘s second season paled in comparison to Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash in the first. Lacking the same emotional connection to Barry as his villainous predecessor and not having nearly as much range either, he might have been the perfect villain for a season that overall, was filled with a lot of great moments and episodes and a lot of not-so-great ones as well.

We know that the third season is going to be dealing with the “Flashpoint” storyline from the comics, thanks to the premiere’s title and the events at the end of the second season. However, one mystery that’s still alive is the identity of the new season’s main antagonist. Though some new set photos from the premiere may have revealed his look, at the very least.

The set photos show what looks like scenes between Barry and Wally West/Kid Flash in the alternate timeline, as Wally gets attacked by a new villain, one dressed in all black and streaks of orange lightning. Check them out below:

Now, it’s hard to know who for sure the new villain is, and if he’s even the main antagonist of the season or not. We do know that the character will be played by The Vampire Diaries star Todd Lasance though, and the costume does bear a striking resemblance to the New 52 version of the Black Racer. For those of you who don’t know as well, the Black Racer in the comics, has a death touch that’s able to beat some fairly powerful foes standing in his way.

Whether or not that’s him will have to wait to be seen, but I imagine that whoever the villain ends up being, it’ll be someone coming after Barry for his actions in the season 2 finale. Especially considering how much the second season delved into the mythology of the speed force.

The Flash season three will premiere on Tuesday, October 4th on the CW.
