‘The Good Dinosaur’ Trailer #2 is Filled With Pixar Magic

By October 6, 2015

By the time this year ends, 2015 might end up being a monumental milestone in Pixar’s history as a studio. After taking a year hiatus in 2014, the animation studio has come back this year with two new animated feature films. The first, Inside Out, premiered in theatres earlier this summer to both critical and financial success, with many citing it as one of the studio’s best yet (myself included), and the second, The Good Dinosaur, is set to hit theatres in just a little over a month.

Where Inside Out offered one of the most ingenious and well-thought out storylines of the year so far, The Good Dinosaur‘s premise seems much simpler. The movie envisions a world where the meteor that destroyed the dinosaurs millions of years ago, simply missed the planet, leaving the species alive and healthy. When a young, good-natured dinosaur named Arlo gets separated from his family though, he runs into an even younger human boy named Spot, as the two grow close as friends, journeying across land to reunite Arlo with his loved ones.

A new official trailer for the film has been released online earlier today, and offers new glimpses at the growing relationship between Arlo and Spot in the movie. Check it out below:

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.”

What I’m loving about this film so far (from the trailers at least) is how good-natured it seems. Much like its lead protagonist, the film seems more than happy in telling a simple and emotional story about how much our relationships mean in our life. Going off of the clips that were shown at this year’s D23 Expo too, I have a feeling that The Good Dinosaur is going to bring more emotion than some people might be expecting, along with its incredible, groundbreaking animated visuals and simple story. Almost everyone in the auditorium was drying their eyes by the time a specific scene from the film ended, and I think that moviegoers are going to have the exact same reaction.

Pixar has been putting out incredible films for years now, and after a small dry patch where most of their movies seemed to decrease in quality (Cars 2, Monster’s University, Brave, etc.) the studio has come back and proven once again just how dependable they are. Inside Out might just be one of my favorite films of all time, let alone this year, and I can’t wait to see all that they have planned for us with The Good Dinosaur.

The Good Dinosaur is set to hit theatres on November 25th.
