‘The Hateful Eight’ Moves Release Up A Week, Big Announcement Tomorrow

By December 13, 2015

Can’t wait to see Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, The Hateful Eight? Well, good news everyone! The film’s release has been pushed up, and there may be even bigger news coming tomorrow. It’s time to get excited, people.

First thing’s first: according to DeadlineThe Hateful Eight‘s wide release, previously scheduled for January 8th, will now take place on New Year’s Day. With the film gaining some positive buzz, the powers-that-be at The Weinstein Company decided to push the release up early to take advantage of the holiday traffic. This news concerns the digital and 35mm print versions of the film, not the 70mm “Roadshow” version that releases on Christmas Day. That release, scheduled to take place on 100 screens around the country, will still take place as planned.

At least, we think it might. The film’s official Twitter account sent this out a couple hours ago:

So what’s the big announcement? No clue. But given that producers are clearly determined to broaden the film’s reach, it’s possible they’ve decided to increase the number of screens the “Roadshow” version will debut on. Or maybe that release has been pushed up as well? We’ll let you know as soon as we find out, because that’s kind of what we do here. Aren’t we nice?

The Hateful Eight stars Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Walton Goggins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Channing Tatum, Zoe Bell, Bruce Dern, and Michael Madsen. The 70mm version is set for release on Christmas Day on 100 screens, with a wide release following on New Year’s Day.
