Well, I know at least one thing I’m going to be doing next summer. I’m going to be spending some hot summer days with The Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man. Sounds way better than some overcrowded water park!
It was just announced that Marvel and Hero Ventures, along with former Live Nation chairman Michael Cohl and Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark producer Jeremiah Harris, are producing The Marvel Experience, a 30 million dollar interactive tour that the producers are describing as a “first-person superhero adventure.”
All of this awesomeness will take place in a traveling dome the size of two football fields. The producers are promising access to dozens of Marvel characters, while offering visitors a unique experience that will allow them to become a part of the story.
Part theme park, part convention, the “Experience” will include numerous high-tech attractions featuring Marvel’s most popular superheroes, including original 3D animation, origin stories told via motion comics, and the kicker: a 4D motion ride. First we get a Thor attraction at Disneyland, now this? Yay!
Hero Ventures CEO Rick Licht had this to say in a statement released to THR:
“The dynamic creative elements we’re developing are going to enable anyone to feel like a superhero like Spider-Man or Captain America. We couldn’t be more excited about our partnership with Marvel. Kids and adults are going to be absolutely inspired, empowered and thrilled from start to finish, with an immersive experience that is not just memorable, but unforgettable!”
The plan is to bring The Marvel Experience to two dozen cities around the US for week long stays starting in Spring 2014. A list of U.S. cities taking part is expected to be announced in a few weeks. I’m already thinking of where this huge traveling dome will be going up in Los Angeles. Wherever it is, I’ll be there!
What do you think of The Marvel Experience? Do you think you’ll be going?
