The Search is On for the Next Ron Burgundy; Watch the Anchorman Sing for Rob Ford on ‘Conan’

I’m only a few hours away from seeing Will Ferrell and the rest of the original cast perform a Live Read of the first Anchorman movie, so I have Burgundy on the brain right now. If you’re a big a fan of the dim-witted but lovable newsman as I am, I have some news that may pique your interest.

Epix is putting together a “search for the next Ron Burgundy” event, in which the winner gets to attend the New York premiere of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues on December 15th and cover it from the red carpet. I’ll let David Koechner (aka Champ Kind) take it from here:

Continuing our coverage of all things Anchorman, Paramount informs us that Ron Burgundy is petitioning to get the faces on Mount Rushmore changed from Presidents to the members of the Channel 4 News Team. Go big or go home, right Ron?

They’re the team you trust. They’re the team you listen to. Their faces are statuesque but they should be statues. For their courageous service to these United States of America and to all humanity, we ask you to help us dynamite their faces onto Mt. Rushmore.

And finally, Burgundy took some time off from appearing in Dodge Durango commercials to pimp his new book on last night’s episode of “Conan.” Never one to shy away from controversy, Ron performed a stirring rendition of Loverboy’s “Workin’ for the Weekend” in support of Toronto mayor Rob Ford (who you may have heard a little about over the past couple of weeks). Watch that below:

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opens in theaters on December 20th, and I’ll have a full recap of tonight’s Live Read for you on the site sometime in the next couple of days.
