‘The Walking Dead’ Has Filmed Death Scenes For All of Negan’s Possible Victims

In case you weren’t already aware, The Walking Dead‘s season six finale was a bit of a controversial one. After finally introducing Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan to the series, the comics’ most iconic villain, in a scene that fans had been waiting the entire show to see, they were left with their mouths hanging open in disbelief as the show cut to a mystery POV shot in its final moments as Negan picked one member out of Rick’s gang to beat to death with a baseball bat.

Yeah, we never found out who it was he killed, and yes, it was pretty shitty. No matter what the showrunners or creative team say, or what classic movies Greg Nicotero tries to compare it to.

In order to keep the victim’s fate a mystery until the season seven premiere later this year though, new reports (via THR) indicate that the production team has shot death scenes for every one of his eleven possible victims, including Rick, Daryl, Carl, Glenn, Maggie, Eugene, Michonne, Abraham, Sasha, Aaron, and Rosita. Yes, you read that right. They’ve apparently filmed the same scene with eleven different characters, in order to avoid any spoiler-y set photos.

Just when I thought their desperation to keep the death a secret had become as ridiculous as it possibly could too, they come back and surprise me once again. Because they hadn’t already milked this moment for all that it was worth.

I get wanting to keep the secret, I really do, but when it comes to something like this, which should have never been a secret after the finale aired in the first place, it just seems like a waste of effort, and more work for everyone involved. Especially since, whoever’s death it ends up being, will be robbed of any weight it might have had, thanks to almost a year’s worth of stretching.

The Walking Dead season seven will premiere later this year.

Still think it will be eugene because they were manning up his character the whole last 1/4 of the season. I’ll wait to read the review after it premieres still think they’ll wait 2 or 3 episodes to actually do it.

They promised it would be resolved in the first episode. After Dumpstergate and the cliffhanger fiasco, I can’t imagine them pissing off their fans even more. Although you never know…

I’ll still wait until reviews after premiere I’m not wasting any more time after last year !!!!

Yep, the thrill is gone. By the time it airs, we’ll all have spent so much time contemplating all of the possibilities that there will be almost zero emotional impact if the victim isn’t a major cast member, like Daryl or Glenn (my two guesses). Putting us through all of that for a Eugene or even an Abraham would be ridiculous.
