‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Director Taika Waititi Asks For Advice From Other Marvel Directors

By May 12, 2016

Perhaps Marvel’s ballsiest and most out-of-the-box creative choice yet, has been bringing on What We Do in the Shadows co-director, Taika Waititi, on to direct the highly-anticipated Thor: Ragnarok, which is also enough to make it one of my most anticipated projects coming from the studio over the next few years. Mainly because the idea of a Thor and Hulk intergalactic comedy, directed by Waititi is enough to make the film fan and comic book fan in me both explode from excitement.

That’s not to downplay just how much different Ragnarok is going to be for the director though, who is more used to smaller, breakout and cult comedies than he is say, blockbuster films about Norse Gods in a fictional superhero movie universe.

It looks like Waititi has some questions about what exactly he has to do with the film as well, and he’s not afraid to ask them… by tweeting his fellow Marvel directors, including James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Peyton Reed (Ant-Man), Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange), and more. Check out the tweets below:

And luckily, he got some helpful advice about his Marvel contract:

Well, that doesn’t quite sound Disney-approved, but we’ll take your word for it, Gunn. Waititi wasn’t done there though:

I think it’s safe to say that Taika Waititi directing Thor: Ragnarok is basically going to be the best thing ever now. He’s totally right by the way – Thor: Homecoming would be an amazing movie.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit theatres on November 3rd, 2017.
