‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Gets A New Screenwriter

By December 2, 2015

It looks like the god of Thunder is getting a re-write. According to an exclusive over at The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has brought screenwriter Stephany Folsom into the fold to work on the script for Thor: Ragnarok.

Not much is known about the film, which is currently set for release on November 3, 2017. It is being directed by Taika Waititi and is thought to be a team-up film that also features the Hulk. Not a whole lot to go on, but since we’ve got a couple of years before it’s released, that’s not all that surprising. As long as Loki makes an appearance, (and he should) I’m good with everything else.

Folsom is the third female writer that the studio has hired in recent months, which is a promising sign for the whole ‘Women In Film’ movement. She joins Nicole Perlman, who penned Guardians Of The Galaxy with James Gunn and is currently writing the Captain Marvel script with Meg LeFauve. (As a side note, Meg also wrote Inside Out, so Disney seems to be keeping it in the family).

I’m not too familiar with Folsom’s work, but I’m at the point where I trust Marvel and the decisions they make for this universe. And a fresh voice is never a bad thing.

Thor: Ragnarok is set for release on November 3, 2017.
