Tom Hardy Set to Produce ‘100 Bullets’ Adaptation

By August 11, 2015

Ever since his breakout role in 2010’s Inception, Tom Hardy has been making a name for himself as one of the most talented actors working today. He’s continued to choose unique and interesting projects the past few years whether it be small, indie films like Locke, or a summer blockbuster extravaganza like Mad Max: Fury Road — and it looks like Hardy may have his sights set on yet another intriguing project.

While promoting Mad Max a few months ago, Hardy had mentioned that he had been working on a mystery DC Comics adaptation, that he thought will be really interesting. Fans have been trying to figure out what the project is ever since Hardy dropped that clue, and it looks like we might finally know…

THR has reported today that Hardy is set to produce with an eye to star in an adaptation of the graphic novel series from Vertigo comics, 100 Bullets. A script for the film has already been written Chris Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes), with Geoff Johns and Adam Schlagman overseeing the project for DC, alongside Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter for New Line.

For those of you out there who don’t know, 100 Bullets was a graphic novel series by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso that ran 100 issues from 1999 to 2009. The series followed a man named Agent Graves, who would present random people with a gun, the name of the individual who ruined their lives, and 100 rounds of untraceable bullets. Whether Hardy is looking to play Graves or a different character is currently unknown, as the film’s plot is being kept under wraps for the time being.

While I’m not personally very familiar with the comic, the premise sounds like something that could make for either an incredibly interesting film franchise, or television series. It’s definitely a surprising choice for Hardy to sign on, but at the same time – the story itself seem like something that an actor of his caliber could fall into quite easily.

Depending on who the studios get to direct the project, and how the rest of the possible cast fills out, 100 Bullets could make for a very interesting adaptation.

The 100 Bullets adaptation is currently in development.
