Trailer For George Clooney, Julia Roberts “Money Monster” Arrives

By January 13, 2016

If I told you that George Clooney and Julia Roberts filmed a movie together directed by Jodie Foster that felt like a stock market version of John-Q with Denzel Washington would you be intrigued enough to watch it? Well, here’s the trailer:

Also starring Jack O’ Connell (Unbroken) as the gunman, this film has so much 90’s to it; maybe early 2000’s. I’m immediately reminded of the previously mentioned John Q where Denzel Washington takes over a hospital with a gun because he can’t afford his dying sons operation. Also Mad City with John Travolta, Dog Day Afternoon with Al Pacino and kind of The Negotiator with Kevin Spacey and Samuel L Jackson. All different movies; but they also have that gunman who may or may not be a bad guy being talked down by someone thing, and those flicks at the very least can be entertaining.

Clooney and Roberts worked together impressively back in the Oceans films but don’t actually film a single scene together here. According to Jodie Foster, Roberts reacted to a green screen monitor or pre-recorded footage for the entire film. So, the whole “chemistry” thing is out.

Here’s the IMDB synopsis for Money Monster:

In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (George Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor (Jack O’Connell) takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies.
