‘Transformers 5′ Title Revealed in New Logo by Optimus Prime

By May 16, 2016

A few months ago, news came regarding Paramount Pictures’ plans which included a Bumblebee spin-off films, and seemed to indicate good things for the direction of the much-maligned and frustrating Transformers franchise moving forwards, after four consistently disappointing installments. We hoped that it did, at least. We made sure to cross our fingers and everything.

Before all of that though, we still have to endure through one more Michael Bay-directed Transformers film, which will be the fifth installment in the franchise. Today as well, the studio has officially revealed the new title for the film, as well as an intriguing new trailer.

Posted on Instagram, a small video features the iconic face of the Autobots leader, Optimus Prime, with purple eyes this time, before the official title, Transformers: The Last Knight is unveiled. Check it out below:

The film is also set to see the return of Mark Wahlberg as the male lead following his role in Age of Extinction, as well as new additions Isabela Moner as the female lead, and Jerrod Carmichael in a currently unknown leading role. The Last Knight is set to begin production on June 6th in Detroit.

After Optimus went into space in search of his creators at the end of Age of Extinction, it’s hard to know for sure where The Last Knight might pick up and what other iconic Transformers canon the movie might pull from. Could Optimus’ purple eyes here indicate a possible evil, or corrupted version of the character? I imagine with the spotlight on him and his iconic sword as well, that “The Last Knight” is actually Optimus, though that could also just be me jumping to conclusions.

At this point though, until Bay leaves the director’s chair, I have a hard time caring. Those purple eyes looked kinda cool, at least.

Transformers: The Last Knight is set to hit theatres on June 23rd, 2017.
