Two Time Lords Who Won’t Be Returning To Doctor Who

By April 5, 2013

Despite early speculation that the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special would feature every still-living actor to play the Doctor, neither Christopher Eccleston (Ninth Doctor) nor Sylvester McCoy (Seventh Doctor) are slated to return.

Just days ago, McCoy told Den of Geek that he had not been approached by the BBC to take part. Then, early today, the BBC confirmed to Digital Spy that Eccleston had considered a return, but decided against it.

Eccleston has had little to do with the franchise since he departed in 2005. McCoy (alongside former Doctors Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Paul McGann, and Tom Baker) will star in a 50th anniversary audio drama, to be released later this year.
