It’s been almost ten years since we last saw Vin Diesel’s Riddick character on the big screen in 2004’s sequel Chronicles of Riddick, and now he’s back with a third entry into the franchise which shares a name with his character. Badass former convict Richard B. Riddick has the ability to see in the dark, possesses incredible survival skills, and is basically a dude you don’t want to run into in a dark alley. Chronicles of Riddick didn’t do much for sci-fi fans, but this new trailer for Riddick (via Machinima) seems to indicate that the series is getting back to its roots and might be closer to what we saw in Pitch Black than the highly stylized sequel.

Take a look below and let us know what you think in the comments. Riddick hits theaters on September 6th, 2013.
