After learning of actress Charlotte Gainsbourg joining the upcoming sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, we now know of at least one more original cast member who will be heading back to the fight against alien invaders one more time.

According to Variety, actress and model Vivica A. Fox will reprise her role of Jasmine Dubrow, who was the girlfriend — and later wife — of Will Smith’s character Steven Hiller. The casting was revealed by the director himself in a Twitter post, where he and Fox are smiling together. See it below.

Fox’s addition to the cast raises some interesting questions about her character, and especially Will Smith’s character, since Smith is reportedly not coming back for the second film due to, according to Emmerich, his asking price. As one of the major characters of the first film, it seems curious that his family will apparently play a part in the story without him in the picture, and it seems that the story won’t simply be sidestepping his absence if his wife and — if rumors are true — his son will be main players in this story.

Shooting on the sequel is expected to begin this May, with other cast members including Jeff Goldblum returning to his role as computer expert David Levinson, Bill Pullman as (presumably former) President of the United States Thomas Whitmore, Fox as Jasmine Dubrow/Hiller, along with new cast members like Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, and Jessie Usher. Independence Day 2 will be released in theaters on June 24th, 2016, arriving nearly 20 years after the original film bowed on July 2nd, 1996.
