Watch: The First Trailer for ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ Is the Trailer Du Jour

By June 11, 2014

It’s really happening. After years of buzz, chatter, rumor, and wishful thinking, Harry and Lloyd are finally coming back for another dum-dum adventure in Dumb and Dumber To. And the results look, well, appropriately dumb!

Stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels hit “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night to hype up the film (as the film doesn’t open until November, we just might have months of this promotion ahead of us, which could hopefully lead to some pretty funny appearances by the duo) and to share the film’s first trailer. Although this is our first real look at the film, they sure didn’t skimp — this is not a “teaser,” it’s a full-length deal, one that accurately shares the film’s plot and plenty of gags (most of which look to be quite in line with the original film).

Dumb and Dumber To picks up twenty years after the original (hey! just like how this film is happening twenty years after the original! what a coup!), with Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) discovering that they need to go on yet another trip to find a girl — but this time, it’s the daughter Harry never knew he had. Yes, the idea of Harry fathering a child is horrifying (especially considering that he doesn’t appear to have matured at all over the past two decades), but it gets even weirder when Lloyd appears to foster a big crush on Harry’s very attractive and now-grown daughter. Ew? That’s not even the grossest thing in Dumb and Dumber To, so brace yourself before watching the film’s first trailer below.

This definitely looks like a sequel to Dumb and Dumber — those haircuts! that chemistry! — even though it appears that the Farrelly Brothers (who have returned to direct the sequel, from a script they worked on with Sean Anders, Mike Cerrone, John Morris, and Bennett Yellin) have really ratcheted up the ick factor. This film goes there, and then it goes there again. This is green-band trailer, for goodness sakes! What could they possibly have in store for a red-band trailer, or yes, even the film itself?

Also, who wants to take bets as to who will pop up in a cameo? Is it too much to hope that Lauren Holly will return? It certainly seems interesting that she’s not just mentioned, but mentioned by name (eh, sort of) in the first moments of this trailer.

The film will also star Rob Riggle, Kathleen Turner, and Laurie Holden.

Dumb and Dumber To will open on November 14th.
