WGA Announces Nominees For ‘Outstanding Achievement in Video Game Writing’

By January 12, 2015

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has announced their four nominees in “Outstanding Achievement In Video Game Writing” for this year’s Writers Guild Awards, and not only are there two different titles from the same franchise nominated, one of them has a strong female writing team!

From full games to DLC, the nominees are:

ACU_heroAssassin’s Creed: Unity – Alexandre Amancio, Sylvain Bernard, Travis Stout; script by Alexandre Amancio, Travis Stout, Russell Lees, Darby McDevitt, Ceri Young (additional scriptwriting by Jeffrey Yohalem)

image-1Alien: Isolation – Dan Abnett, Dion Lay, Will Porter (Read our review of the game)

Assassins-Creed-Freedom-Cry-Screenshot-05Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry – lead script by Jill Murray (with story by Jill Murray, Hugo Giard and Wesley Pincombe) and scriptwriter Melissa MacCoubrey.

And there you have it! Pretty good lookin’ set of nominees we have here but I’m a bit surprised season 2 of Telltale Games The Walking Dead didn’t make the cut; before you ask, their other two titles’ – The Wolf Among Us and Game Of Thrones –  release dates didn’t fall within the December 1, 2013 – November 30, 2014 (trust me, I checked).

But hey, I’m excited to see a team of ladies in there and while I wish ALL OF THEM the best of luck, I’ll be rooting for the ladies of AC: Freedom Cry just a tad more when the awards are given out on Saturday, February 14th (thanks for the heads up, IGN)!

What about you, darlings? What titles would you have liked to see nominated?
