‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Image Teases Storm’s Egyptian Beginnings

By August 4, 2015

Among the many new and interesting things that X-Men: Apocalypse will be introducing to the cinematic universe, one of the most notable is the introduction of some of the same mutants from the original films, only their younger selves in the early 1980s. The film will include younger versions of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and perhaps the most interesting recasting – Storm (Alexandra Shipp).

A lot of fans wound up being disappointed with Halle Berry’s version of the character in the original films, and there wasn’t a lot of information known or given regarding the character’s past either. So now that it has all but been confirmed that Apocalypse will be addressing the character’s Egyptian background, it’ll be interesting to see how large of a part she ends up playing in the film, and how she winds up being one of Apocalypse’s four horsemen.

Recently, director Bryan Singer revealed a new behind-the-scenes image from the film online giving a new look at Storm’s origin, including a more effects-heavy look at Cairo in the film. Only this time, from a distance. Check out the image below:

It’s clear that Storm doesn’t look happy at some point in the film, and it’s possible that Apocalypse offers her a way out from the life she’s living in Cairo. Considering the high possibility that Apocalypse will first return in Egypt, audiences will most likely get to see the two characters meet sometime earlier in the film before all the chaos actually begins.

When viewers were first introduced to some of these characters back in the early 2000s, a lot of them were mature and controlled adults, and we didn’t get to see much of the kinds of struggles they went through to get to that point. So the idea of getting to see these beloved characters when they don’t have things figured out, and are struggling with their abilities, should make a lot of die hard X-Men fans very, very excited.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters nationwide on May 27th, 2016!
