Zack Snyder Talks About Getting Ben Affleck to Direct a Solo ‘Batman’ Movie

Maybe the one positive thing about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that basically everyone who saw the film can agree on, was the quality of Ben Affleck’s performance as Bruce Wayne and Batman, despite some of the script’s crippling characterization flaws. After being rumored to be involved in his own solo Batman movie ever since the DC film slate was announced years ago too, demand for the project to come into fruition has only grown since.

While it was recently revealed that Affleck has written a script for a Batman film of his own as well, nothing has been confirmed yet from any of the parties involved. It looks like we’re not the only ones who want to see it happen though.

During a recent interview with (H/T Heroic Hollywood), Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder revealed that he’s been pushing Affleck to make a Batman movie over the past few years, though the actor seems to be waiting for his schedule to be finalized first.

“I keep working on him, he’s always said he’s a one movie at a time guy. He’s finishing editing his film, Live By Night and then he comes to Justice League and then after that, I think he’s going to try and develop the story. Then we’ll see if he likes it.”

And would Affleck direct the film as well?

“Oh yeah, for sure. I think he would. I think that’s kind of the prerequisite, hopefully, for him doing [the film].”

It’s nice to see that the conversations are very much going on from everyone involved it seems like, and after Warner Bros. went ahead and announced the release dates for two new, mystery DC films today, it seems like only a matter of time before this happens at this point. If so, I feel like Affleck has it in him to make what could be, the best Batman movie audiences have ever seen. Big words, I know. But not unfounded.
