Zombies, RUN!

By July 26, 2012

Ever pretend you’re being chased by zombies while out on your daily run? There’s an app for that.

Billed as a “running game and audio adventure”, developers Six To Start and writer Naomi Alderman have found a way to make your daily stroll/run just a LITTLE more creative. Zombies, RUN! uses your own music to set the pace of your survival along while zombies are groaning for your brains and your “lifeline” is in your ear telling you where to go and what to do.

After surviving a crash and finding shelter in Abel Township you become Runner 5 and in turn, everyone depends on you to help rebuild the base by running (get it?!) around town and getting the necessary supplies while remaining “bite free.”

The more you walk/run, the more items (batteries, medical supplies, ammo) you collect, the more you can learn about just what exactly happened in Abel Township as the world continues to open up to you.

But wait! That’s not all! Once you get home, you must THEN decide who gets said items, which buildings need bolstering, etc. I’ma go out on a limb here (LIMB!) and say your cool down is the probably the perfect time to make these in-game altering decisions.

Along with random mission orders and groaning zombs pumping through your earbuds, Zombies, RUN! is a PERFECT way to keep you motivated because the bigger your base, the more missions you play and the more people you can save.

Six To Start says that in a future patch, Zombies, RUN! will “record the distance, time, pace and calories burned of all your runs and we’re planning RunKeeper integration. You can also hear audio notifications for time, distance and pace during your run.”

Wanna see what this looks like in action?

If you’re a fan of air conditioning (or are afraid of the great outdoors), don’t panic…Zombies, RUN! works on a treadmill or walking/running in place!

Zombies, RUN! costs a mere $7.99 and is available now for iPhone, iPod Touch, Android and Windows Phone.

So how ’bout it? Ready to run?
