10 Facebook Posts That Got People Fired

By February 26, 2013

Social Media is great when it comes to keeping connected and putting your every living thought and moment out there for the world to see. But remember, there is a downside to all that open access. Bosses are out there watching what you do too. These people all seemed to forget about that fact.

Bank intern gets visited by the fire fairy

Kevin Colvin called in sick due to a ‘family emergency’. Then he posted pics of himself at a Halloween party. No surprise…his boss saw the pics on Facebook. Colvin was fired and the pic was cc’d to all of the other employees to boot. Maybe Disneyland is hiring?

Cheerleader Chump

New England Patriots cheerleader, Caitlin Davis, was fired after she posted images of herself defacing a guy’s face with a penis and the words ‘I’m a Jew.’ That’s not very role-model-y of her. It’s kind of super-douchey of her.

Fan fail

Philadelphia Eagles stadium operations worker Dan Leone was not happy when the team lost Brian Dawkins to the Denver Broncos. He took to Facebook to vent his frustration writing, “Dan is f*cking devastated about Dawkins signing with Denver … Dam Eagles R Retarted!!” Leone quickly became a free agent.

Hitman joke not a hit with the boss

Days after a shooting at the University of Alabama, Professor Gloria Gadsden of East Stroudsburg University made  the really bad decision to post this on her Facebook page: “Does anyone know where I can find a very discrete hitman? Yes, it’s been that kind of day.” Too soon? I’m guessing her day got worse after she was fired.

Here’s a tip…don’t complain about customers on Facebook

After getting burned on a tip, waitress Ashley Johnson griped on Facebook: “Thanks for eating at Brixx, you cheap piece of s— camper.” Her managers caught wind of the status and Johnson was fired. As a former waitress I totally sympathize with Johnson. If Facebook existed during my server days, I probably would’ve been fired for the same thing.

Teacher learns hard lesson

Cohasset High School instructor June Talvitie-Siple was asked to resign after she was caught posting that her students were “germ bags” and the parents  were “snobby” and “arrogant”.  I kind of love imagining her smoking a cig and downing a celebratory scotch after sending in her letter of resignation.

Perv gets the pink slip

Teacher Chadwin Reynolds sent friend requests to several female students. Okay, I guess. Then he started leaving comments like ‘This is sexy!’ on their photos. Uh, definitely not okay.  With updates like “I’m not a gynecologist, but I’ll take a look inside.”  and actually trying to get a student to go out with him, Reynolds was quickly given the sack. Teacher by day, Facebook creeper by night! Sometimes, I really don’t wanna live on this planet anymore.

Royal Guard gets canned

Royal guard, Cameron Reilly, felt dissed by Kate Middleton, then posted this on his Facebook wall:  “hur and william drove past me on friday n all a got was a shitty wave while she looked the opposite way from me, stupid stuck up cow am a not good enough for them! posh bitch am totally with u on this 1 who reely gives a f*** about hur.”   Well, he doesn’t have to worry about it anymore, because his dumbass was given the royal wave.

Mashed potato mistake

A KFC employee posted pics to Facebook that showed her licking a large heap of mashed potatoes. After posting the photos, she received thousands of shares and hundreds of comments. Eventually, the photos were linked to a particular KFC restaurant. Uh oh. She was fired and now I will never be able to order fast food again. So I guess something good came out of this.

I don’t even know the details on this one, but it is so friggin’ hilarious I had to include it!

What do you think of people getting fired for what they do on Facebook? Let’s discuss in the comments!
