Labor Day Weekend is upon us which we all know means the official end of Summer. I’m pretty much the only one I know who hates summer, so yay for me! Sorry, rest of America! The only things that kept me going through the past few hot and steamy months were some truly cool pop culture moments and Summer 2013 definitely had its fair share! Here are ten of my favorites.
Love it or hate it…oh come on you know you love it! Even if it’s just a ‘hate it so much, you love it’ kind of thing. Sharknado was ridiculous summer fun. Hello? THIS:
I for one can’t wait for the sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One. Let’s get on board, people! I think we all want Ian Ziering to remain gainfully employed.
John Oliver’s Guest Host Stint on “The Daily Show“
I was nervous when I heard Jon Stewart was taking off for the summer. Silly me! John Oliver rocked it out so hard, I’m kind of bummed to see him go. At least we’ll always have gems like this: “Welcome to “The Daily Show,” I’m John Oliver. Jon Stewart is still not here. He is currently living out a live-action “Lord of the Rings” role-playing experience deep in the New Zealand wilderness.” Please tell me the live-action Lord of the Rings role-playing experience is a real thing.
The “Breaking Bad” Premiere
You know you want it! Hey, it’s the song of the summer…we all have to begrudgingly love it, until we all can’t stand it. Which started happening 3 weeks ago.
Peter Capaldi announced as the new Doctor
I’m not even a hardcore Whovian, but even I was on the edge of my seat the day the announcement was made. It was so stressful – not “Breaking Bad” stressful… but still.
Loki’s surprise appearance at Comic-Con 2013
WTF! Why was this so awesome? Because we all love Loki, that’s why. I totally was jealous of the mewling quim who had the honor to say his name.
The “Adventure Time” & “Futurama” Crossover
How could you not love this? Who knew something a few seconds long could bring so much joy?
Ben Affleck is the new Batman
Remember when the internet went batsh*t crazy over this announcement? I’m totally rooting for Ben Affleck to kill it. If you haven’t read Patton Oswalt’s impassioned response to the whole hubbub, you should. Speaking of Patton Oswalt…
Patton Oswalt’s Two-Part Troll Tweets
Oswalt totally trolled all of Twitter when he brilliantly created several 2 part tweets, strategically cut off so that if you only saw the second part, you were left feeling incredibly dumbfounded. You can check out all of the tweets here.
Hank and Marie watch the VMAS
This is the only good thing that came out of the VMAs. End of discussion.
