‘Alien: Covenant’ Reveals Danny McBride’s Character and the New Ship

By June 21, 2016

I really don’t know what to think of Alien: Covenant at this point, which has firmly cemented itself as the most inconsistent and contradictory film in development right now, especially coming off the report that Noomi Rapace will be returning for the film after all. Continuing in its steady stream of behind-the-scenes photos from the movie though, which is in the midst of production in Australia right now, a new image from Covenant has been released online and this seems the most reminiscent of Alien yet.

Giving us our first look at Danny McBride’s character, the image features McBride and director Ridley Scott standing in the cockpit of what we can only assume is the Covenant itself, which seems less what we saw in Prometheus and more reminiscent of the aesthetic of Alien and Aliens.

Check out the image for yourself below:

Following the divisive reaction to Prometheus though, Covenant may have to correct the Alien franchise in some big ways, especially since it’s the reason that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 has been indefinitely delayed for the time being, which was set to bring back Sigourney Weaver as Ripley and more. Following his comeback with The Martian though, Scott is more poised than ever to bring the franchise its long-awaited return-to-form. We’ll just have to wait and see if he’s able to do it this time or not.

Alien: Covenant is set to hit theatres on August 4th, 2017.
