Anna Kendrick Reveals The Interesting Marvel Superhero She’d Want to Play

By July 1, 2016

Over the past few years, we’ve started to see the Marvel and DC films begin to recruit actors for their movies, that I don’t think comic book fans could have ever imagined being in them, even in the years immediately preceding the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008.

Now, we’ve not only seen actors like Robert Redford, Anthony Hopkins, and more already appearing in the films, but we’ve also got new films to look forward to with Cate Blanchett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Keaton, and so many more.

At this point, it seems like everyone wants to be in one of these films, and considering the increasing success rate that the movies are gaining, it’s not hard to see why either. It’s also not hard to see why it’s something basically every celebrity or actor gets asked nowadays either – which superhero would you want to play?

While recently promoting her new film, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates with Net-a-Porter as well, Anna Kendrick revealed the Marvel superhero she’s want to play (thanks to a helpful recommendation from her brother) and it’s kinda perfect:

“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Squirrel Girl is a character in the Marvel comics who’s popularity has steadily increased over the past few years, thanks in part to the critically well-received Unbeatable Squirrel Girl run as well. Basically, she talks to squirrels who help her take down villains, and even has had sidekicks named Tippy-Toe and Monkey Joe. If that doesn’t sound like something Anna Kendrick could pull off in a comic book movie either, then I don’t know what does.

Alex dreams of meeting a girl with a yellow umbrella, and spends too much time* staring at a movie screen. His vocabulary consists mostly of movie quotes and 80s song lyrics. *Debatable
