Anthony Mackie Says Ben Affleck Was the Best Part of ‘Batman v Superman’

By April 27, 2016

Despite the many, many criticisms of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one of the most universally praised aspects of the film was Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne and The Dark Knight, with many touting him as being the best onscreen iteration of the character yet… even with some of the problematic issues with how the character was written in the film.

It looks like we’re not the only ones who thought so either, with Captain America: Civil War star, Anthony Mackie, sharing his thoughts on the film in a new interview promoting the Marvel movie, where he went on to praise Affleck’s performance as Batman as being the best thing about Dawn of Justice. (He’s not wrong.)

Here’s what he said about Affleck’s performance (via

“When I saw that movie I was really excited about it because I said Ben Affleck would be the perfect Superman, I mean Batman, and when you see the movie he is the best thing about the movie, he shines as Batman.”

Anyone who’s been keeping up with my coverage of the films over the past few weeks, knows that I was not a fan of Batman v Superman. With that being said though, if there’s one thing that the movie did right for me, it was make me excited for Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman movie, which I wholeheartedly believe has the chance to be the best Batman film ever put to the screen. Which says a lot, coming from someone who still considers Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight to be the best comic book movie ever.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is in theatres everywhere, while Captain America: Civil War is set to hit theatres on May 6th.
